EMBER HEARTH RUGS SIZE: 6 FT HALF ROUND, 72" X 36" MATERIAL: 100% WOOL, BERBER LOOP CONSTRUCTION, SOLID COLORS FEATURES: The next highest level of protection below our fiberglass would be the wool rugs in the Ember, Creeskide, and Andiron collections. The advantage of wool is that it is naturally self extinguishing and if it does char, the spot can often be rubbed away leaving little visible damage. Being a nstural fiber, wool will char but will not melt as will synthetic fibers. The EMBER collection of 6 ft half round rugs is the large size needed in front of custom hearths. A 6 ft half round is twice th earea of a 4 ft half round and therefore protects twice as much floor area. FLAMMABILITY: All of our harth rugs meet the CPSC stadnard FF 1-70 for flammability of carpets. This test is often called the "pill test" and certifies tht the carpet will not continue to support combustioon once the ignition source has cooled or been removed. The ember that pops out may char a spot on the hearth rug but the rug will not burn. It will protect the underlying surfac. *DISCLAIMER: No representaton is made that hearth rugs will not be damaged by burning embers that fall on them.
